He attended Baltimore City Public Schools, and in June of 2006, graduated from Dr. Samuel L Banks High School #420. In 2008, he became a Correctional Officer for the state of Maryland, where he is still currently employed.

Minister Wheeler has one son, Jawon L. Wheeler Jr. and is a descendant from a family of preachers, pastors, ushers, deacons, and singers.

Minister Wheeler dedicated his life to Christ and was baptized at First Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church where Bishop Oscar E. Brown is the Pastor. There he served as a member of the youth choir and dedicated servant of God. When he was not at his home church, he worshiped with Freedom Baptist Missionary Church where his grandmother Doris Sullivan and many other relatives are members.

In March of 2012, he became a member of Freedom Baptist Missionary Church where he recommitted his life to Christ. He came running to God as a willing worker, serving as the sound engineer (2012), and a Praise and Worship Leader (2013).

In November 2013, Minister Wheeler announced his calling into the ministry. On March 28, 2014 while under the leadership of Pastor James A. Johnson, he preached his initial sermon, became a licensed Minster of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and  served as the Youth Minister at Freedom Baptist Missionary Church for nearly 3 years. On December 4, 2016 Minister Jawon L. Wheeler Sr was led by the Holy Spirit to join the St. James Free Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Gary J. Payton Sr, where he faithfully serves as an Associate Minister.

Lead by the unction of the Holy Spirit Min Jawon L. Wheeler SR proposed to the love of his life Tiffany J. Payton on January 1, 2017. Eager to be obedient Min. Wheeler and Sis. Payton tied the knot on April 1, 2017, but that wasn't enough! Min. Jawon L Wheeler SR married his bride Tiffany J. Wheeler for a second time amongst a host of family and friends on April 15,2017. Blessing him with one daughter Ma'Lyhan Partlow.

As stated in 2 Corinthians 5:7, Minister Wheeler stands firm on walking with God by faith and not by sight. His favorite scripture is Psalms 23:1-6 "The Lord is my Shepard; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever”.
